Just prior to the NY Auto Show the 2012 Volkwagen Beetle was unveiled with a new retro yet modern restyle and a Fender-branded car audio system.
You may remember in December VW announced a Fender Musical Instruments car audio system for the Jetta (produced with Panasonic Automotive Systems Co.) that has 9 speakers. Now a version of the system is heading for the new Beetle. It will be joined by a low cost navigation radio with Bluetooth, said IHS iSuppli, but we don’t have more details on it yet.
The car, also gets a flatter roof, and a wider and longer body. Then you get a 2.5 liter, 5-cyclinder engine and the option for a 200 HP, 2.0 liter turbocharged motor and a turbodiesel engine good for 40 mpg on the highway.
