Walmart is reducing the size of its electronics departments, but not the number of products it carries, said Reuters.
As the size of TVs and other consumer electronics products shrinks, Walmart is able to demo the products in smaller departments, which could be slashed by as much as 2,000 square feet per store, according to analyst David Strasser of Janney Capital Markets. Chain-wide that would result in a downsizing of over 7 million square feet.
This will free the retailer to add items such as “fishing poles, fabric and full-figure fashions,” said Reuters.
The actual size of the electronics departments will vary by store. For the full story, click here.
