Harman announced a new OEM navigation system for Mercedes-Benz and a sound system for the Ferrari FF.

Under the Becker brand is an in-dash navigation system with a removable “brain” to appear in Mercedes-Benz SLK and new C-Class vehicles.

You can un-dock the “brain” (that’s hidden in the glove compartment) to update maps or upload new apps, said Harman.

The new Becker Map Pilot navi system also uses steering wheel controls and voice commands. It will be offered on other Mercedes models in the future.

Ferrari FF has Harman sound systemThe Map Pilot was unveiled this week at the Geneva Motor Show, as was a new Ferrari called the FF that doesn’t skimp on the Harman-equipped sound system. It includes 15 speakers and a 1280-watt JBL Pro amplifier (Class D). There are two Harman super slim Electro Dynamic Planar Loudspeakers in the B pillar of the car. Rounding this out is a loaded subwoofer box, and a Harman GPS navigation system. You get USB iPod support; stereo Bluetooth, satellite radio capability and USB support for other media.

The sound system also uses Harman’s Quantum Logic surround technology that converts stereo or multi-channel audio to 7.1 channel surround. The same technology is used in JBL Pro sound systems.

There’s no price yet on the new Ferrari (with four seats and four-wheel drive, hence the name “FF”).
