Auto Sales Strong in February

General Motors led a banner month in new car sales for February, as the auto market continued to recover.

GM sales were up 49 percent compared to February 2010 and all the major car companies saw double digit gains, said the San Francisco Chronicle.

But with rising oil prices, GM CEO Dan Akerson at the Geneva Auto Show warned against optimism for the industry presently.

February, however, was strong all around. At Nissan, sales rose 32 percent and at Honda; sales climbed 22 percent. Hyundai saw a 28 percent hike.
Increases at Chrysler and Ford were 13 and 10 percent, respectively.

Customers bought both cars and trucks as the economy continued to slowly improve and automakers offered sales. GM, in particular, provided attractive financing and lease deals.
