It shouldn’t be long before a sleeker, faster version of the iPad sporting a camera for video chat is available as an iPad 2 is already in production, says The Wall Street Journal citing anonymous sources.
The device will also be lighter than the original, with more memory and a more powerful graphics processor.
Screen resolution will be similar to the current iPad that charted almost 15 million in unit sales and effectively launched the tablet category.
Like the current tablet, iPad 2 is expected to be sold through Verizon Wireless and AT&T.
The iPad is assembled by Foxconn.
Tablet shipments are expected to surge by nearly 200 percent this year to 55.7 million units, predicts DisplaySearch.
