JBL is planning a portable sound processor for the spring that’s about the size of a cellphone, and quickly optimizes your car’s sound system.

JBL Readies MS-2 for SpringCalled the MS-2, it plugs in to the aux in jack of a car radio and then you can add your phone, iPod, MP3 player, or tablet—any device with a headphone output—into the MS-2.

Press a button on the MS-2 and it calibrates the ideal settings for your car and delivers digital signal processing to improve your car stereo.

The MS-2 itself plugs into the cigarette lighter and gives you some controls to tweak the bass, etc. It’s expected to sell for around $199. More details will follow, says JBL.
