Not only the iPhone, but the iPad with built in Verizon Wireless service will soon be available through Verizon, the carrier’s CFO told BusinessWeek Tuesday.

iPad for Verion with true Verizon chipWhile Verizon already stocks a WiFi iPad that it bundles with a MiFi hotspot, a true Verizon iPad with an embedded CDMA chip is on its way, said the carrier’s Francis Shammo.

Verizon was short on details so we don’t yet know when the new iPad will be in stores or at what price.

If true, the Verizon iPad would likely strengthen Apple’s already dominant share in the tablet arena. Apple was expected to ship almost 13 million iPads in 2010 and is forecast to ship about 50 million this year, according to iSuppli.

The research firm predicted last August that the iPad would take a 74.1 percent share of global tablet shipments last year. It’s stake will drop only slightly this year to a 70.4 percent and still hover above 60 percent in 2012.
