New Vehicle Sales Keep Climbing

November was another strong month for U.S. car and light truck sales, which jumped 17 percent over last year, signaling the nation’s economy continues to slowly improve.

Automotive News reports that November was the second month in a row that auto/light truck sales reached an annual rate of 12.26 million units, according to AutoData. A year ago the vehicles were selling at an annual rate of 10.86 million units.

Vehicle sales rose to 873,407 units in November, with strong sales in pickup trucks and larger cars.

GM’s sales were better than expected, up 12 percent and Ford saw a 20 percent gain over last year and announced plans to increase production.
