Three years ago a Kindle eReader sold for $399 and quantities were so limited the device could bring in hundreds more in cash on eBay. This Friday, a Kindle will sell for $89 on a Black Friday special through Amazon.
The retailer is offering a Kindle 2 (second gen) model with 3G but not WiFi while supplies last. However, Amazon’s Kindle Facebook page said supplies are limited.
Amazon also posted a note on Facebook saying it enjoyed its biggest sales day to date for Kindles during the week, but it failed to provide any tangible numbers.
Not to be out done, Best Buy will offer the Nook at $99, also on Black Friday. The Nook typically sells for $149.
