The iPad is selling so fast it’s changing the consumer electronics landscape: netbook sales took a hit, as did high end controllers for home theater systems. But how are tablets other than the iPad faring?
Engadget reports that the HP Slate, available for less than a month, is now sold out. But HP only produced a very limited run of 5,000 units, reports the blog, citing one source. HP received 9,000 orders for the Slate with an 8.9-inch screen, and which is aimed at business users.
By contrast, Apple sold 4.19 million iPads last quarter, the equivalent of over 46,000 a day.
