Sirius XM tripled the number of subscribers added in Q3 this year compared to the quarter last year. It added 334,727 new subscribers for the quarter in 2010 compared to 102,295 for the quarter last year.

The satellite radio company said it hopes to break the 20 million subscriber mark by the end of the year and it ended the quarter with over 19,862,175 subscribers.

More people subscribe to XM (10,218,265) than Sirius (9,643,910). But Sirius has been gaining momentum over XM. In the past 3 quarters this year, more people have chosen Sirius over XM.

Sirius XM converted people who get satellite radio on a trial basis to paid subscribers at a rate of 48.1 percent during the quarter, up about 2 percent compared to the same quarter in 2009.
