Amazon Intro’s Kindle Singles

You may not know this, but you don’t often see books that are less than 50,000 words. That’s the length needed to consider a work a marketable, printable book.

But now shorter eBooks will be published through “Kindle Singles” a program from Amazon designed to create cheaper eBooks that are only as long as a few chapters of a typical book.

The idea is to cater to literary ideas that are too long for a magazine article but too short for a typical book.

The Kindle Singles section will appear in the Kindle Store and the Singles books will be priced lower than a typical book.

Amazon said, “Today’s announcement is a call to serious writers, thinkers, scientists, business leaders, historians, politicians and publishers to join Amazon in making such works available to readers around the world.”
