Sony showed off an impressive bendable eReader display at its dealer convention in Shinagawa Tokyo.
The prototype ePaper display uses plastic instead of the usual glass substrate to achieve its flexibility, reports Sony Insider. The obvious benefits of plastic are that it is not only bendable but lighter and less likely to break when dropped. There’s no word on when this might reach the market .
We are reminded of an LG proof of concept bendable 19-inch wide eReader display shown back in January by LG Electronics. It was the size of a newspaper and used metal foil instead of a glass substrate.
