Dell Tablet Has “Dual Personality”

Dell showed off a new 10-inch tablet and netbook combo device, but it’s not in any format you’ve likely seen before.

A tablet flips and rotates out of the clamshell frame in what Dell called a “dual personality” device that was previewed at the Intel Developer Forum, said CNET.

There’s no word on a delivery date or price. It’s just a first look at the tablet/netbook that runs Windows 7 Home Premium with the N550 chip, says CNET.

Separately, Dell is aiming the 5-inch Streak Tablet beyond the consumer and is targeting doctors.

Dell said yesterday it will integrate the new Streak that launched last month with healthcare software and peddle the device to doctors for use in accessing patient information, says Reuters.

A Dell executive said Apple’s iPhone is too small for use as a tablet by physicians and the iPad doesn’t have enough functionality. Dell claims it designed the device in the perfect form factor to fit in a lab coat.

The Streak is a tablet that doubles as a smartphone. It runs on Android and costs $550, or $300 with an AT&T contract.
