iPod Nano Watch, Is Car Unit Next?

It was only a matter of time before someone took the tiny iPod Nano and affixed it to a watchband. A company called iLoveHandles is allowing just that with a $20 watchband that has a notch for the Nano. And there’s reason to believe that a car stereo head unit is next.

Scosche says a head unit with a snap in connector for the new colorful, multi-touch-screened Apple Nano is very doable. OEM project manager Jack DiBiasio told us, “It could be definitely possible. It has a 30-pin connector and a 3.5 [aux out] so you could easily do something like that. You could snap it into the face of the radio. That could definitely be a future product. And it has a touch screen so absolutely.”

It would also be possible to set the buttons on a car radio so that they could control the Nano, as for some uses, tactile buttons might be safer to operate in the car, than the Nano’s 1.5 inch touch screen.

As for the iLoveHandle’s Rock Band, it’s a natural since the Nano’s lock screen includes a time display. The Nano also gives you an FM radio.

The Nano sells for $149 for the 8GB model and $179 for the 16GB unit. It is not much larger than its 1.5-inch screen, which has a resolution of 240 by 240.
