The Samsung Fascinate smartphone with the dazzling Super AMOLED screen and fast processor will go on sale at Verizon Wireless stores on Wednesday, September 9 for $200 (with contract) after a $100 rebate. And online sales will start Tuesday, announced Samsung and Verizon.
The Fascinate is part of a family of “Galaxy” smartphones that all sport a Super AMOLED screen (that reviewers love) and a fast 1 GHz processor, 5 MP camera and run Android 2.1. The Fascinate is Verizon’s version which joins AT&T’s Samsung Captivate, T-Mobile’s Samsung Vibrant and Sprint’s Samsung Epic 4G, which are already available.
CNET said the Fascinate’s strengths beyond a dazzling screen and fast processor are that it provides “a great multimedia experience” and it may double as a mobile hotspot. On the downside, its GPS positioning isn’t always accurate.
PC Magazine said the Fascinate “is just as good” as the Motorola Droid X and HTC Incredible. It’s processor is the fastest in the business and its “media playback is terrific.”
