Barnes & Noble updated its eReader apps and has switched most of them the Nook brand rather than the Barnes & Noble moniker.
The new Nook for iPhone is a completely new app that borrows some features from the new Nook for iPad app. It has more customization: you can optimize it for day or night reading and change the screen brightness. Users can also change colors of the fonts and book cover art is now optimized for the iPhone 4’s Retina display (but it also works on earlier models and the iPod touch).
Nook for iPad has been updated to include “the industry’s first rating” feature. Users can rank each eBook they read by tapping the stars below each eBook (for a 1 to 5 rating), said B&N.
The PC app is now Nook for PC, and the Mac app will soon become Nook for Mac. Rebranding from B&N to Nook began in July with the Nook for Android app.
