Sharp demonstrated Tuesday two Apple look-a-like eReaders, including one large screen tablet model that resembles an iPad, and said it is in discussions with Verizon Wireless to bring the products to the U.S. No U.S. launch date or pricing has been determined, according to a U.S. spokesperson.
Sharp’s eReaders will debut first in Japan, where Sharp will launch an eBook distribution service. The company claims to have the backing of publishers both in Japan and overseas. In Japan Sony and mobile operator KDDI have also united to distribute eBooks.
