Best Buy Drops Lawsuit Against Ultimate

Best Buy dropped a false advertising lawsuit against Ultimate Electronics filed in April. The Richfield-based chain dismissed the suit after Ultimate agreed to stop advertising that it shops the competition to offer the lowest prices.

Best Buy said that for at least 2 years, Ultimate has claimed to offer the “the lowest electronics prices period” and that it shops Best Buy and other retailers, adjusting its prices daily to be the most competitive.

Best Buy and the Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota researched the claims and reported that Ultimate’s prices often were higher than Best Buy’s, said the Star Tribune of Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Ultimate Electronics, based in Thornton, CO, denied the charges. An agreement was filed last Friday in which Ultimate did not admit to any wrongdoing.
