Barry Vogel has resigned as a leader of MERA, (the Mobile Electronics Retailers Association) and will be replaced by industry veteran Chris Cook, MERA’s new executive director. Cook was promoted from director of industry relations at MERA. He will now be responsible for all aspects of the group’s management and “will continue the efforts in rebuilding and growing the new MERA,” said the group.
Also, industry veteran Paul Pirro (formerly of Victory Technologies and Select Products) will help MERA in the role of assisting members and he will focus immediately on the upcoming KnowledgeFEST trade event sponsored by MERA in the role of boosting exhibitor and retailer participation.
Vogel remains a member of MERA. He resigned to focus on managing his own retail store, Ultimate Edge, in Oswego, NY, he said. Vogel as we all know, has put in countless hours and worked tirelessly as executive director and more recently as director of member relations for MERA. We all owe him our gratitude.
Cook has held many leading industry positions including posts at the Consumer Electronics Association, Mitek, and currently DICE Electronics.

  1. Welcome to Chris! And we too hate to see Barry go. He has always been such a supporter of educating not only the end customers, but dealers along the way in order to truly evolve the industry. Thank you Barry for bringing AVIDWORX with you into the MERA educational/Knowledgefest arena, we hope to carry on your belief in education and positive change in the industry.
