Want to connect your phone to your HD TV and download photos or videos? Nokia, Samsung, Sony and others are pushing a standard cable that will let you connect portables to a TV.
The group, which also includes Toshiba and Silicon Image, is promoting a single cable that will allow you to play a full length movie from your phone on the TV, while powering the phone at the same time so the battery doesn’t drain during the movie.
The group announced its formation today as the MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) Consortium and a it published a draft of a standard for the cable, called the MHL standard. It uses a cable with a low pin-count, which can support up to 1080p HD video and digital audio. For more information click here.
