Alex eReader Now Shipping

The Alex eReader, heading for sale at Borders bookstores this June, is now shipping for those who want to order it on the web.
The $399 eReader (see video below) with over-the-air book downloads via WiFi has a dual screens and is Android based. A 3G version should follow mid-year at a possible price of $479, said Alex’s supplier Spring Design.
The company may also offer the Alex through consumer electronics retailers.
Alex has a 6-inch electronic paper display with a 3.5-inch Android-based color LCD below it for Internet access while reading eBooks. The touch screen gives you an onscreen keyboard to visit relevant web links, access email, YouTube videos, etc. Yes, the design is similar to the Barnes & Noble nook and Spring Design filed a lawsuit against the bookseller in November siting a violation of a trade secrets.
Alex connects to Google’s bookstore with over one million titles, and other bookstores that support Adobe DRM.
The Alex eReader weighs 11 ounces and measures 4.7-inches by 8.9 inches and less than a half inch deep. Users may add their own content or download content to a microSD card.
Pre-orders on the device began a month ago.

Also the Alex will be sold in Spain starting in July through Grammata,a Spanish eReader company, announced Spring Design today.
