Sharp will add its name to the list of 3D TV makers such as Panasonic, Samsung, and Sony. The company plans to begin selling 3D TVs this summer in Japan to be followed by launches in the US, China, and Europe later this year reports Engadget.
Sharp prototype 3D panels include a 10.1-inch netbook/tablet/laptop display that does NOT require special glasses, says the report. However, larger model do require glasses.
Sharp’s TVs will also be the world’s first 3D model to use four primary colors—adding yellow to the usual red, green and blue trio, said Akihabara News. Sharp also claims its TVs have such a high response speed, they eliminate some of the ghost images that plague 3D TV images known as “crosstalk.”
Sharp expects 3D TVs will become for 5-10 percent of its total LCD TV sales for its fiscal year ending in March 2011, said Reuters.
