In more downsizing for the car AV industry Pioneer Electronics has let go of two execs: Michael Townsen, VP field sales and Keith Burnett, VP product planning.
A 25-year veteran of Pioneer, Townsen will leave the company March 31, he confirmed noting that Pioneer has been downsizing for the last 13 to 14 months. Townsen was VP marketing prior to his post as VP field sales. He said he was not yet sure of his next business move.
Alpine Electronics also let go of several top industry execs earlier this year including Glenn Ihrke, VP sales.

  1. We are a Pioneer retailer. Pioneer fired the best “rep” we have ever had in over 30 years of business. Kevin M. worked out of Cleveland and drove 3 hours to educate our employees, 5-6 times a year. He made his own POP material to help promote Pioneer, and was always available. I actually wrote to his boss, one year before he was fired, to commend him on his hard work. Pioneer then “consolidated” and had to drop him. You do not let go of your best people.

  2. Two of the finest in the industry!
There are other higher level managers that should be compromised before these two who have genuinely built Pioneer to be what it was.
