Samsung Hyundai, Kia, Tesla car-to-home tech

Prior to CES next week, Samsung announced it is integrating its smart home technology with Hyundai and Kia vehicles and Teslas.

Under the Hyundai and Kia deal, drivers at home can use a Samsung app to to start the car, control the AC, open and close windows and check the charging status.

From the car, users can control home appliances including TVs and air conditioners and EV chargers.  See more here.

Samsung is also working with its subsidiary HARMAN to offer this technology to car makers as part of a “digital cockpit.”

Samsung has also teamed with Tesla to allow its users to control charging and other  functions through the Samsung app (SmartThings Energy app).  This would allow the app to work with Tesla Powerwall, Solar Inverter, Wall Connector charging and EVs.  As an example, Samsung TVs and phones could alert users to a pending storm or weather event. Users could then activate Tesla’s AI Energy Mode in preparation.
