Morel announced at KnowledgeFest Las Vegas it is shipping a new BMW audio system, the first in a series of vehicle specific systems from the company.
The audio kits come in two versions: Reference Level and Performance Level. The Reference Level offers 2-way components and the Performance Level uses Integra point source (coaxial) speakers. They are plug and play ready and ship with adapter rings.
The Reference IR-BMW42 component system includes DirectFit, 4-inch woofers and snap in Hi-Res 1.1-inch tweeters, along with factory wiring connectors. The speakers are based on Morel’s Hybrid line. The woofer uses a 2.1-inch voice coil and a hybrid EVC motor design. The silk dome tweeter uses a dual neodymium magnet motor.
The Performance IP-BMW42 component system also uses 4-inch drivers and 1.1-inch snap in tweeters with factory wire connections. The Performance system uses a handcrafted MT100 tweeter .
A BMW-specific subwoofer is also available to work with either line. It is an 8-inch, under-the-seat model at $369.
Morel is looking at offering its next vehicle specific system for Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the second quarter.
The Reference Level system retails for $799 to $999. The Performance Level BMW system retails for $349 to $429.
