Here are three newly announced advanced car devices for the aftermarket, which may be worthy of your attention.

 

GROM–Android Auto Interface for Honda, Acura

GROM Audio is now shipping an interface to add Android Auto and other features to Honda and Acura 2013 and up vehicles.

GROM may also announce interface compatibility with another leading system shortly.

Its VLine interface also offers easy access to GPS navigation (Google, Waze, Sygic), music streaming (Spotify, Pandora, SoundCloud), voice assistants, and other  apps.   Users can control the apps through the car’s original instrument panel.

Android Auto appears on the system when the user connects his Android phone to VLine via USB.

VLine  is an Android based computing device that integrates with the car radio and steering wheel controls. Originally designed to work with factory touchscreens, it now supports stereo rotary knob controls on vehicles without touchscreens.

The VLine HON2VL2 is compatible with select 2011-2015 vehicles, and the HON3VL2 is compatible with select 2013-2019 vehicles.

They are currently on early bird pre-order until September 15th at $459.95. Shipping starts after September 30th at $599.95.  The VLine comes with all accessories and connecting cables, and includes GPS and WiFi antenna.

Automotive Integration Solutions (AIS) is shipping a new wireless streaming device that works with most factory and aftermarket radios and rear seat video screens, allowing users to stream Waze, Netflix and more to the screen.

Parents can stream Netflix to the rear screen or stream Waze to the car radio from Android phones and iPhones (running iOS 7 or higher).

Metra introduces AX-CUSTOM-BT personalization interface

METRA Customization Interface

Axxess by Metra Electronics is now shipping a patent-pending personalization retention interface for select Jeep, Mazda, Ram and Toyota vehicles. It is designed as an add-on product for aftermarket radio upgrades so that vehicle owners do not lose control over specific settings when their factory radio is removed.

The Axxess Bluetooth Vehicle Customization Interface (AX-CUSTOM-BT) allows users to access, edit and control settings for many of the most commonly lost vehicle personalization options by using a Bluetooth enabled smartphone app for both Android and Apple phones.

Options  may include settings for locks, security, engine off options, lights, a chime or other audio options that aren’t accessible from the new head unit.  Options will vary by vehicle.

Two plug-n-play packages with vehicle-specific harnesses are available: the AX-MAZBT and AX-TOYBT (designed for select Toyota models without an amplifier).

The AX-CUSTOM-BT works withe Jeep Renegade 2015 and up, the Ram Promaster (w/ color screen) 2014-up, Promaster City 2015-up, and select Mazda and Toyota applications.  More compatible vehicles will be added in the future.

Also, the Axxess XSVI-6524-BT is another interface that uses the same Bluetooth enabled personalization retention interface technology and combines it with additional features to provide accessory power, retain R.A.P., provide NAV outputs, retain the factory backup camera, balance and fade, AUX-IN jack and more.
