The Farmer’s Almanac is calling for a frigid, snowy repeat of last year’s weather in many states, which may mean a strong remote start season.
Directed said it is expecting a “significantly stronger” season in remote start sales over last year. Directed’s Jim Jardin said dealers had low inventories heading into the season and are optimistic about the coming year.
Compustar also said orders are way ahead for August and September.
Until recently, mild winters had led dealers to be cautious in remote start orders. But with frigid winters a couple of years in a row, dealers are now ordering more aggressively earlier in the season, said Compustar’s Justin Lee.
Voxx’s Tom Malone said, “There’s no reason to believe this season won’t be as healthy and strong as last year.”
Regarding the long range forecast, the Farmer’s Almanac predicts Northern central states like Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana and Illinois will see temps overall at about average, but here’s the catch…it’s going to be a mix of bitter cold with unseasonably mild temperatures. Plus a lot of snow from mid January on.
The Almanac said, “Over the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic States, the winter will be stormy with a good amount of snow. We are ‘red-flagging’ the second week of January and the second week of February for possible heavy winter weather with a long, drawn out spell of stormy weather extending through much of the first half of March.”
Sharing some of the pain, will be Southeast States as well as the Mississippi Valley, Southern Great Plains, the Gulf Coast, and along the Atlantic Seaboard, which will see above-normal precipitation.
Omega’s Javier Leiva said “As far as weather, we look at different patterns and are very optimistic that it will be a cold winter similar to last year.”
