Pandigital, the digital photo frame maker, is offering its second 7-inch color eReader/tablet in its Novel series.
The new tablet is basically a black version of the Android tablet that shipped in May. The new model however, is sleeker, weighing 11.8 ounces and Pandigital said it should be available at “several national retailers next month.” Through its sales of digital photo frames, Pandigital already has relationships with the outlets such as Kohls, Macy’s, Costco and Bed, Beth & Beyond.
The $200 Novel has WiFi and a built-in web browser and promises to support apps in the future. It links to the Barnes & Noble eBookstore and includes 2GB of storage, built in SD card slot for up to 32GB cards, mini USB port. It’s battery life of 6-hours is significantly shorter than a Kindle or standard E Ink eReader.
