Kenwood dominated the best seller list of in-dash navigation decks for the full year 2014, according to The NPD Group.
Kenwood took the top 3 slots for in-dash radios for both unit and dollar sales with the DNX891HD leading both measures followed by the Kenwood DX691HD and DNX571HD, which ranked number 2 and 3 for both unit and dollar sales, said NPD.
Pioneer and Alpine also figured in the top 5 best selling in-dash navigation decks. The Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX and AVIC-6000NEX made the charts as did the Alpine INE-W940.
Kenwood credits its popularity in part to its use of Garmin navigation. The top ranked DNX891HD is a 2014 Excelon model with a 7-inch screen at $1,400 suggested retail price. It will be replaced in February by the DNX892 at a similar price. The new version adds a few upgrade features including built in backup camera parking lines and compatibility with FLAC files.
