It’s dejavu at Sound Advice, which was once one of the top regional consumer electronics stores in the country and a leader in car audio.
Sound Advice announced it will re-enter the car audio business as of September with veteran car electronics buyer Dan Jeancola to serve as senior executive and partner of the newly re-launched Florida-based chain.
Jeancola, who was recently a buyer for Car Toys in Seattle, will head up the car audio division of the store.
Sound Advice president/CEO Peter Beshouri said, “While our original re-entry into the consumer electronics business did not include car audio, the demand for car audio and related accessories has been very strong and it would be foolish to ignore. Also, the car audio business tends to skew toward a younger customer, which gives Sound Advice the added benefit of reaching a broader segment of the Florida community”.
Dan Jeancola, said, “It is ironic that 15 years ago this week Peter Beshouri and Sound Advice purchased my original company “Audio Garage” and we then went on to develop at Sound Advice one of the largest upper end car audio businesses in America – We are ready to do it again !”
In its heyday, Sound Advice operated 35 stores, mainly in Florida and was led by Beshouri who served as CEO. He sold the chain in 2001/2002 to Tweeter, which went into bankruptcy starting in 2006.
Bershouri reopened the first new Sound Advice in Fort Lauderdale in February and hopes to expand to 5 to 10 stores.
The company focuses on high end products and expects to carry high end car audio, he said.
