Six car audio videos stood out to me this week. Here are my picks, and why each one is worth watching.
Steve Meade tests excursion on a new 15-inch subwoofer/rebuild
Creator Steve Meade works on his Lexus ISF sound system rebuild in this video, the second episode in the series. He tests a large SMD prototype subwoofer and pushes it hard to check its excursion. I like watching the big subwoofers move and watching the system come back together piece by piece. The excursion test made this one even more fun to watch.
Car Audio & Security builds a loud stereo for a Ferrari F355
Creator Car Audio & Security, based in the UK, installs a new sound system in a Ferrari F355 in this video. The team compares the volume of the stereo to the sound of the car’s exhaust. The Ferrari F355 is an iconic car. I find it funny that someone wants a stereo louder than the exhaust, but it makes sense. This is a fun video from start to finish.
Car Audio & Security previews Kicker’s new VXA amplifiers
Creator Car Audio & Security looks at Kicker’s new VXA amplifier range in this video. The amplifiers are only sold in international markets, including Canada and the UK. I wanted to share a close look at the units, along with the specs and another reviewer’s take. North American readers may not see these amps in stores, but they are worth a look.
Car Audio & Security unboxes Alpine’s first Android OS radio
Creator Car Audio & Security unboxes and reviews the Alpine INE-AW409S in this video. This may be Alpine’s first radio built on Android OS. The company appears to be building its own operating system, called Alpine OS. I wanted to share this because it could be a preview of what’s coming. The unit is not sold in North America. It is only available overseas.
Cambridge Car Audio fixes a sound problem in a Polestar 2
Creator Cambridge Car Audio finds and fixes an audio issue in a Polestar 2 in this video. The video gives a behind the scenes look at the electric vehicle’s factory system. Most readers in our area will never see a Polestar 2 in person. I wanted to share this one so they can get a look at it.
Cambridge Car Audio builds a custom system in a McLaren 750S
Creator Cambridge Car Audio installs a custom audio system in a McLaren 750S in this video. The build uses carbon fiber trim and Audison Thesis amplifiers. I find it pure fun to watch a supercar built out with carbon fiber and expensive gear like this. It’s a fun watch and I wanted to share it.
