Audio retailer Gene from Jazz Audio, who recently made headlines on the TV show “The Fixer,” will take center stage at KnowledgeFest Dallas Fort Worth this weekend, bringing his business transformation story directly to the mobile electronics community.

Gene will discuss Jazz Audio’s struggles and subsequent turnaround in a fireside chat on Sunday, August 24, at 3:00 p.m. on the Mobile Electronics Association’s main stage. He is expected to reveal the behind-the-scenes challenges that nearly sank his business and the interventions that saved it.

Gene’s appearance on Marcus Lemonis’s hit show “The Fixer” is a case study in the resilience of many shops in our industry where passion can outweigh business acumen. Gene’s willingness to expose his vulnerabilities on national television, then implement the hard changes recommended by Lemonis, has created a blueprint for other retailers to follow, said the Mobile Electronics Association (MEA).

“Gene and Jazz Audio are typical of many retailers, who still have the passion but lack the information and guidance to help them become more successful,” said Tony Frangiosa, MEA Chairman.

The transformation has been so significant that Jazz Audio has since joined MEA, with Gene and one of his installers planning to attend multiple KnowledgeFest workshops throughout the weekend.

Jazz Audio is also launching a new MEA website at NewJazzAudio.com, designed to showcase the company’s evolution and serve as a learning resource for other businesses facing similar challenges.

Chris Cook, President of MEA, sees Gene’s story as particularly valuable for the association’s members. “His firsthand account of working with Marcus Lemonis will be both inspiring and highly valuable to our members and the wider mobile electronics community,” Cook explained. “His story is a powerful testament to the impact of mentorship and strategic business planning.”

The fireside chat will focus on practical business strategies, operational efficiency, and the mental fortitude required to implement difficult but necessary changes.

The session will be held in the MEA booth.
