Zapco has introduced two new four channel tube preamplifiers, the ASP-TPA and the ASP-TPB. Both models pair high level and low-level inputs with low level RCA outputs and use dual vacuum tubes in the signal path. The ASP-TPA uses a 6922 dual tube. The ASP-TPB uses a 6H23N dual tube.

Each preamplifier measures total harmonic distortion plus noise below 0.01 percent and carries a signal to noise ratio of 110dB. Frequency response runs from 20Hz to 22kHz, with a gain range of 250mV to 6V. Input impedance is rated at 22K ohms for RCA and 4 ohms for high level, and output impedance is 600 ohms.

Both units run on a 10V to 16V DC power supply and measure 128mm wide, 45mm tall and 161mm deep.

Zapco said tube circuits add warmth and dimension to a system’s sound, particularly in the midrange, and produce a soundstage installers often use for vocals and acoustic instruments. The company recommends a listening test to compare the two tube types.

The ASP-TPA and ASP-TPB join Zapco’s line of signal processors, which the company has built for more than 40 years starting with the PEQ and continuing through the PX, the SX-SL, the EQ-30 and DAII.
