AudX Sound, a new company launched by former Alpine Product Development Veteran Javier Vergara, offers an amplifier and optional harnesses that work in plug and play fashion with both aftermarket head units and base OEM Toyota radios. AudX will add a Ford harness shortly, to be followed by a Jeep harness.
AudX offers a low profile 5-channel amplifier that’s slim enough to fit under a front seat while not obstructing the seat movement. It works with two premium T-harness for various Toyota radios at present. The amp is also compatible with adapters that plug into the main harness for connecting an aftermarket radio. This cuts installation time down to 45 minutes to an hour instead of the typical 2.5-hour install required, said Vergara.
If the customer originally kept the OEM radio and decides to switch to an aftermarket radio, the installer simply unplugs one side of the harness and connects a set of RCA adapters. The system allows easy upgrades and easy servicing.
Currently, T-harnesses are available for Toyota base models ranging from 1984 through 2026. The Ford harness will work with most of the newer vehicles including the F150, from 2018 to 2026.
The 5-channel EZV1K amp is rated at 75 watts by 4 into 4 ohms and 240 watts mono in 4 ohms at a retail price of $599. (See more specs below). A 10 inch shallow dual 4 ohm subwoofer is also available at $499.
Vergara originally worked for Alpine for more than a dozen years. When Alpine moved its headquarters to Michigan, Vergara moved to Stinger where he helped develop the HEIGH10 and HORIZON10 advanced radios. From there, he helped develop new BOSS Elite radios with Maestro.
