Helix modular amp for subwoofer enclosures

Audiotec Fischer’s Helix brand announced a modular system for adding a small half brick-sized ‘cup’ DSPamp to its MK2 loaded subwoofer boxes.

The sub boxes’ large terminal cup can be swapped out for the new thin profile HELIX IMPACT ISM 400.2DSP cup amplifier with the removal of 6 screws.

“We know many times people don’t want to upgrade  their system with a DSP amp; they just  want to add a sub box to it,” said Audiotec Fischer in a social media post. The new IMPACT amp addresses the problem allowing the addition of an amplifier without a separate amp install.

Through its built in DSP, the new amp can neutralize the active filters on the factory output to get a clear signal. The factory signal can be analyzed and de-equalized and installers can check for all pass filters and defeat them. This is done with existing Helix software using a PC

The modular system also allows dealers to stock only one enclosure instead of two ( passive and active).

The IMPACT ISM 400.2DSP is rated at 200 X 2 RMS watts at 2 ohms or 275 x 2 peak and includes a 1-channel DSP. It also includes a “Deep Impact” filter that counters factory bass roll off to extend the bass signal.

HELIX IMPACT ISM 400.2DSP cup is due to ship in Q2 at a price to be announced.

The new Helix MK2 loaded subwoofer enclosures range in price from about $400 to $800.
