MTX enters car audio DSP market

By James Chevrette

MTX Audio has entered into the digital processing market with the release of the TL-8.8DSP 8-channel DSP, unveiled at the MasterTech Expo. The unit is designed with a unique feature for customers who are cautious about DSP or have had a negative experience with it, offering a “basic” setup mode to ease users back or into the category.

The TL-8.8DSP features a highly compact footprint, measuring just 4 x 3.875 x 1.125 inches. “This allows the DSP to be used in any vehicle, powersport application, or motorcycle audio system,” said Jason Fickas, MTX Vice President. “If a user wants to use our basic setup, it offers 13 bands of equalization with simplified adjustments for quick set-up.”

The unit supports six onboard presets that can be toggled via a Bluetooth iOS or Android control app, allowing users to switch between different tunes on the fly. It accepts eight channels of high level or low level inputs, and handles up to 16V of input signal, making it compatible with factory amplifiers, and it provides eight 4.5V pre-outs.

Switching to “advanced mode” unlocks 31 bands of equalization with individual control over gain, frequency, and Q factors. The crossover section includes Linkwitz-Riley, Butterworth, and Bessel filter configurations in 12, 18, 24, or 48 dB per octave slopes, along with adjustable time alignment

The TL-8.8DSP is shipping now with a two year warranty at an MSRP of $479.95 . Visit mtx.com for more information.
