Dashcam maker Vantrue targets US dealers

Vantrue is one of the latest innovative dashcam makers to pursue distribution in the US through car audio distributors and retailers.

You may remember, Vantrue announced the first dashcam with thermal night vision (plus CarPlay). It is now focused on expanding US distribution for its dashcams, which offer high margins, it said.

It currently works with about 50 retailers and is looking to expand to 200 by the end of the year. Vantrue dashcams have been offered in the US for many years including online. Its brick and mortar presence has been limited to regional specialists in metro New York, and Los Angeles and in Texas, as well as in over 600 Best Buy stores.

The company offers different products for the specialist channel and maintains MAP policies, said Yi Mei, Marketing Director.

“Vantrue is actively recruiting brand distributors, specialty retailers, auto‑repair shops, car dealers and professional installers worldwide. The Vantrue partner program offers structured wholesale pricing, marketing assets and product training for businesses that want to expand into premium dashcams,” Mei told CEoutlook.

The company is also open to working with manufacturer reps.

One Vantrue dashcam model for brick and mortar retailers is the E2 Pro, with a 4K front and 2.5K rear camera, offered at margins comparable to traditional car audio products.

Element 2 Pro Features:

  • 4-Channel Full Coverage
  • Four STARVIS 2 Sensors
  • 10s Buffered Pre-Recording Motion Detection
  • 5GHz Wi-Fi & Free App
  • Smart Voice Control
  • Built-in GPS
  • 24/7 Parking Monitoring
  • Supports up to 1TB microSD Card

Vantrue’s lineup also includes four-channel and 360-degree systems. A thermal imaging model with CarPlay/Android Auto is planned for the future. Vantrue says it was the first dashcam maker to market a 3 channel unit. It claims a number one market share in dashcams over $150. It also offers the smallest 4K dashcam, said Mei.

LTE real-time viewing is also in the lineup.

Some innovative features from Vantrue include PlatePix, which is its proprietary technology to ensure a license plate is always captured, even in low light or in fast motion, said the company. It also uses four systems for parking mode including: Motion Detection, Collision Detection (G-sensor), Time-Lapse (or Low Frame Rate), and Low Bitrate Recording to work on low power and allow 24/7 monitoring
