JVCKENWOOD and Alps Alpine reported sales for the recent nine months.
JVCKENWOOD saw a 3 percent drop in revenue and a 16 percent increase in core operating income for its Mobility & Telematics (M&T) sector, which includes car audio. It cited a negative impact on sales due to US tariffs.
For the first three quarters of the fiscal year (ending March 31, 2026), the company reported revenue of $941 million (144.4 billion yen) for the M&T sector, down from $969 million for the period a year ago. Core operative income rose to $27 million, from $23 million a year ago.
JVCKENWOOD said its operating income for M&T increased due mainly to improved OEM sales and its efforts to reduce costs, “despite the negative impact of the US tariff measures at JKHL [JVCKENWOOD Hong Kong Holdings] in the OEM and Aftermarket Businesses.”
The company, however, expects improved M&T revenue for its fourth quarter due mainly to increased OEM business.
For full JVCKENWOOD corporation results (all sectors), total revenue fell 4 percent to $1.69 billion for the recent nine months, down from $1.77 billion for the same period last year.
Core operating income fell 28 percent to $87 million compared to $121 million a year ago. Profit before taxes fell 12 percent to $105 million, down from $120 million a year ago.
Alps Alpine Reports Increased Earnings
Alps Alpine reported increases in revenue and profits for the recent nine months. It now expects sales, for the first time, to exceed 1 trillion yen for the full year ending March 31, 2026.
Alps Alpine said its recent results were higher than expected due to the weaker yen exchange rate* and increased sales in its mobile, consumer and automotive markets.
Last year, sales in the Mobility sector (which includes Alpine) were lower as OEMs cut back production due to “competition in the Chinese market.” This year, however, sales increase due to “a modest recovery, as well as the launch of new products,” said Alps Alpine.
Sales for the first nine months in the Mobility sector were $2.6 billion compared to $2.5 billion a year ago. Operating income swung to a profit of $51 million, compared to a loss of about $651,000 last year
Total Alps Alpine corporate net sales (all sectors) rose 20.5 percent to $5 billion (761.1 billion yen) for the first three quarters, up from $4.8 billion a year ago. Operating income rose to $217 million compared to $165 million a year ago and profits jumped to 156.3 million , compared to $64.7 million a year ago.
