After some delays, Modus, the new audio company offering advanced technology, will ship its first products this quarter.
The rollout begins with marine products, including the company’s five-channel Portale series amplifier and Gateway series speakers, which are expected to ship in time for the marine season.
The Portale amp includes Modus’s proprietary ACT EQ technology, which uses a microprocessor to monitor differences between input and output signals, automatically reducing gain in tiny increments when it detects clipping or distortion, protecting both the sound quality and the electronics.
The Mezzo line of amplifiers also use a patented current averaging technology that delivers high power output while drawing minimal current. Modus’ unique PREACT™ Current Averaging Technology draws on a lithium-ion battery inside the amplifier. In this set up, the wires from the amp draw minimal current, just enough to charge the amp’s internal lithium-ion battery.
The company has been demonstrating this capability with a Cybertruck installation running on Tesla’s 48-volt platform. “Nobody [else] has a solution for this high voltage 48-volt platform,” said Jason Digos, Modus Senior Sales Trainer. “We know that car manufacturers are moving to that high voltage platform, so we’re leading that charge.”
Automotive Lineup on the Horizon
Following the marine products, Modus plans to unveil a new automotive speaker lineup. The speakers will use proprietary manufacturing processes developed by the company’s engineering team.
“We are an engineering company. We’re not taking stuff off the shelf,” said Digos. “That’s why it’s really taken us some time to really dial in and build exactly what the market needs. There are some processes that we’ve developed with the speaker engineering group that haven’t been done before.”
