Alpine is shipping its new BassRev series, a speaker line featuring H.E.D.G.E. (High Excursion Design Gathered Edge) surround technology. The series includes coaxial and component configurations in 4-inch, 6.5-inch, and 8-inch sizes.
All BassRev speakers incorporate H.E.D.G.E. surround design, a multi-roll corrugated surround with integrated ribs. According to Alpine, this configuration distributes stress across the surround material and enables approximately 30 percent greater cone excursion compared to conventional surrounds (more detailed explanation here).
The speakers feature a unique lapel cone design that increases cone height and cone excursion. Cone material consists of polypropylene-mica composite. All BassRev models are Hi-Res Audio Certified by the Japan Audio Society (JAS).
BassRev speakers are designed to integrate with Alpine’s OPTIM8 DSP ecosystem via OPTIM Sync technology when using an amplifier. This integration allows the amplifier to apply model-specific DSP tuning profiles, including dynamic bass boost and pre-EQ curves calibrated for each specific speaker size. This DSP tuning profile technology has been used in the home audio industry by manufacturers like Sonance, Sonos and Onkyo.

All BassRev coaxial models feature a recessed tweeter design for lower profile installation. The speakers are designed to maintain the factory grille; grilles are available separately.
Component models in the BassRev series do not include passive crossover networks. These models are designed for active crossover configuration, requiring external amplification with crossovers. OPTIM Sync technology is recommended.
The coaxial models have a built-in crossover and can be run off a single channel of an amplifier.
