Some major advancements in Android Auto are now live, once you download Google’s new AI assistant, Gemini to your Android phone.
Gemini can now access your Gmail account and recite your unread emails. Plus it can find information from within your emails when commanded, such as a hotel address when you are traveling.
Now, when sending a message you can just tell Gemini the gist of what you want to say and it will compose a message. And you can add info as you go along without having to scrap the message and restart.
If you get a number of messages coming in on a group chat, Gemini can summarize them.
You can conversationally access Calendar and other Google apps, as well.
For music, Gemini can create play lists as you drive.
You can ask Gemini for facts about your current destination.
With Google Maps, you can ask specific questions about restaurants along your route. For instance, you can say, “Hey Google, I’m suddenly craving barbecue. Any good spots along my route that are open now, near my destination?” From there you can ask about the restaurant’s most popular dishes and reviews.

Sadly, Apple’s Siri has failed to keep up with Google’s advancements. To improve Siri, Apple is currently finalizing an agreement to license technology from Google to the tune of about $1 billion a year, as reported earlier this month.
