While other companies at the recent SEMA Show focused on “show vehicles” to display their products, Nick LoMonaco, President of Memphis Audio, decided to present things “in the upside down”.
Memphis, partnered with retailer Creative Audio, MO to build a walled subwoofer using the actual van “Hawkins Power and Light” from Stranger Things. The van is famous for being telekinetically flipped by Eleven in Season 1. The vehicle was on loan from the Branson Celebrity Car Museum, which gave Memphis freedom to remodel the interior of the van as long as it didn’t change the van’s exterior.
Memphis debuted many new products at SEMA including the following:
Memphis announced redesigned PRX subwoofer enclosures, the PRXE12SFT single 12″ and PRXE12DFT dual 12″ featuring LED illuminated subwoofers and logos. Both models include redesigned port flares for reduced noise and improved airflow, black and gray two-tone carpet finish, and FLEX Selectable Impedance Technology (single: 1Ω, 2Ω, or 4Ω; dual: 0.5Ω, 1Ω, or 2Ω).
Also new at SEMA was the NANO10SPX NANOBOXX, an ultra-compact underseat 10″ powered subwoofer designed for tight spaces across multiple 12V applications, including cars, trucks, boats, UTVs, and motorcycles. The unit features a diecast aluminum enclosure with IP66 waterproof rating, upgraded sealed connectors and plugs, and weatherproof controls for harsh environments. It includes a built-in amplifier, oversized passive radiator, variable crossovers, subsonic filter, remote level control, and RGB LED ground lighting.
Memphis Audio has also introduced the VIV1212 12″ subwoofer, delivering 1000W RMS/2000W peak power in a traditional enclosure size. The subwoofer features Memphis’ V-groove surround for maximum excursion, a 3.3″ aluminum triple voice coil, 162oz magnet, and DVVC (Direct Vent Voice Coil) cooling and incorporates Memphis’ FLEX selectable impedance system allowing users to switch between 1Ω and 2Ω configuration.
These are joined by the SMCHLA hideaway radio designed for classic cars, boats, and powersports, offering full head unit functionality without a dashboard-mounted screen. The unit features an aluminum chassis with IP66-rated conformal coated PCB, built-in 50Wx4 amplifier, and includes a wired 4-button rotary knob remote that fits standard Carling/rocker switch knockouts.
Controlled via the new Memphis Command App (iOS/Android), it offers the following features:
- 7-band EQ
- Independent Zone 1 and Zone 2 crossover controls
- RGB LED control output
- Four programmable relay trigger outputs
- Multiple audio sources including Bluetooth, AM/FM, Weather Band, AUX, and USB
The SMCHLA, VIV1212 12-inch subwoofer and NAN010SPX are shipping now.
Also from Memphis is a new PRX1500.5V2, compact 5-channel amplifier. The unit features an aluminum heat sink with blue LED top cover and ground lighting, plus top-mounted controls hidden beneath a removable cover plate.
The PRX1500.1V2, PRXE12SFT and PRXE12DFT are expected to arrive Q1 2026.
