ZZ2 is offering a new camera interface for Ford SYNC vehicles that lets you add, for example, a front camera that can be switched on while parking to see beyond the hood.
The ZZ2 ZZC-SY4C allows up to three external camera views into the Ford SYNC infotainment screen. So if you are in a low vehicle such as a Ford Mustang, or a large Bronco, you can switch on a front camera to avoid hitting a cement block or pole. The camera lets you integrate into the SYNC system a front, side (left/right), 3rd brake light camera, truck cargo bed camera or trailer camera. These can be activated by a push button (provided) or the factory blinkers or wire trigger inputs.
Most Ford vehicles come with only a single rear camera interface to the SYNC infotainment system.
The ZZC-SY4C can allow drivers to view the contents of a trailer or truck bed or permit safer lane changes with camera views of blind spots, said ZZ2.
The interface works with any Ford SYNC 4 vehicle with OEM analog factory cameras. As some vehicles use digital cameras, ZZ2 is requiring that users fill out a form with the vehicle’s VIN number to ensure compatibility.
The ZZC-SY4C includes a built-in Video-In-Motion (VIM) mode for allowing use of the factory keyboard while the vehicle is in motion.
ZZ2 said it plans to offer additional interfaces for Ford, as well as Chevy and Ram in the future.
