Google announced it will add its Gemini AI assistant to Android Auto to allow more natural conversations and more complex assistance while driving.
Drivers can ask Gemini to find a charging station along a certain route that is also near a park so they can take a walk, as an example. Gemini can also find restaurants along a certain route.
Gemini can summarize the messages that you receive, and also translate your reply into another language before sending.
Users can ask general questions such as requesting a summary of the news minus sports or a synopsis of a particular book.
Gemini will be available on Android Auto in the coming months, followed by cars with Google Built-in.
For CarPlay users, Siri’s advanced AI capabilities have been delayed until 2026.
