Kicker will show at SEMA 2024, its first full premium line of marine audio products aimed at a more upscale customer.
The line of nine products uses high end materials and includes an enclosed loaded subwoofer plus separates, coaxials and subwoofers.
“This is our entry into the premium space apart from some pro audio marine models. We’re still Kicker, we’re not going up to the highest of the highs [in price] even though, our tested performance matches what’s out there at the high levels, but we’re keeping premium affordable,” said Brand Manager Jeremy Bale.
The line uses glass infused nylon for the baskets, making them less susceptible to thermal issues. The mid-woofers are carbon fiber infused for more rigidity and sound clarity. “For Steve Irby [Kicker founder], it’s always his design to create the most realistic sound, as the artist intended it,” Bale said.
The new marine tweeter is larger than most, at 28mm and is of audiophile quality, made of Tetoron, which is similar to silk but it holds up better and has better water and UV resistance, said Bale. The line offers RGBW lighting, which adds warm white to the previous RGB lighting.
Products include a pair of MSS 6.5- and 8-inch components each with a separate 28mm tweeter, and MSC coaxials, also in 6.5- and 8-inch sizes with the same tweeter mounted in the speaker. These are joined by MWE 10- and 12-inch enclosure-ready subwoofers and MWF free air versions plus the MWLE loaded enclosure with a 10-inch subwoofer and 10-inch passive radiator. Speakers are available in charcoal gray and white.
