SkillsUSA, the career organization with a Mobile Electronics Installation segment, is seeking judges for the finals competition to be held June 26 and 27 in Atlanta from 7:30 am to 4 pm.
The organization, which teaches high school, college, and trade school students the basics in car audio installation, is also seeking funding for its Mobile Electronics Installation segment.
To date, finalists include 25 students in 16 states. Many more students participated in state contests. Oklahoma had 47 students at the state contest, California had 12 and Texas had 20 students this year.
At least $10,000 is needed in funding for the rest of the year and $20,000 per year on an ongoing basis.
Among the 12 volt companies and organizations helping to fund the program are Sony, JVCKENWOOD, JBL/Infinity, MECP, Mobile Solutions, Sky High Car Audio, the KICKER Tech Force, Metra, VOXX/DEI, Diamond Audio/Cerwin Vega, The Mobile Electronics Association and BOSS Audio.

The Mobile Electronics Installation category tests competitors’ abilities to perform standard installation practices used by certified, professional mobile electronics installers. These skills have been established through the certification objectives and items created for the Basic MECP certification by the Consumer Electronics Association.
