GCH enters wireless car charger market

GCH Automotive announced it has entered the market for vehicle-specific wireless charging retrofit kits for phones.  The kits cover over 420 vehicle models from nearly all leading car makers for 2008 to 2024 model years.

Many current OEM and aftermarket wireless charging pads are simply too weak in power to be effective, said GCH President Greg Delgado.

“They don’t charge unless you turn off your phone, and yet the charging symbol turns on. If you are engaged in any type of activity with your phone the battery will continue to drain,” he said.  “Ask anyone who has wireless charging in the car and they will say they don’t use it because it doesn’t charge the phone.”

The GCH line includes an 18 watt power supply, which is 40 percent stronger than OEM systems that typically have an 8-10 watt power supply, he said.

Additionally, the line has magnetic MAGSAFE technology (for iPhones only) to ensure a proper connection to the charger.  The charging tray or sleeve will “pull” the phone into position.  This eliminates the problem of trying to find the “sweet spot” on the charging pad.

The kits offer plug and play installation with power harnesses and factory matched panels. Installation takes 20 minutes or less, said Delgado.

The kits come with a 3-year warranty.
