Focal is one of the first aftermarket companies to offer Tesla drop-in speakers for the Models 3 and Y.
The plug and play HiFi speaker kits are made in France. They come in four models and include a 2-way component kit, a coaxial kit, a central speaker and two woofers. There is no modification to the vehicle required.
They join the “Focal Inside” line of vehicle-specific audio kits from the brand. They use Flax cones and aluminum inverted dome tweeters. Sizes range from 4- to 8-inches with retail pricing from roughly $600 to $1,000 per pair. The kits are just now shipping.
The model ICC T3Y 100 is a 4-inch central speaker. It is joined by the IC T3Y 100 4-inch two-way speaker pair, and the IS T3Y 100 4-inch 2-way system, plus the IW T3Y 200 dual 8-inch woofers.
Focal said it targeted Tesla for its new kits, as these vehicles are now among the top sellers in the country. The Model Y is now the second most popular vehicle of any kind in the US after the Ford F150. It also recently became the best selling car in the world (not just among EVs), outselling the Toyota Corolla.
Estimates on individual Tesla model sales vary because Tesla does not break them down for the US, but the Model 3 is the second best-selling electric vehicle in the US, with sales of an estimated 143,728 vehicles in 2022.
Focal offers other vehicle specific kits for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, and other car makers.
The speakers will be on view October 31 – November 3, at the Focal suite at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.
