Ford said Tuesday it has cancelled plans to drop AM radio from its vehicles.
CEO Jim Farley said the auto maker is responding to urging from Congress to retain AM radio as an emergency broadcast tool.
Ford had already dropped AM radio from its EV 2023 Mustangs and F150s and had planned to remove it from 2024 vehicles, said Yahoo!News.
Farley said, “After speaking with policy leaders about the importance of AM broadcast radio as a part of the emergency alert system, we’ve decided to include it on all 2024 [Ford] and [Lincoln] vehicles,” Farley wrote on social media.
Ford will also offer a software update to reinstall AM radio on its 2023 electric vehicles.
